AP 264 - Coaching Guidelines in Extra-Curricular Activities

Background

The Division recognizes that appropriate release time and funding is required to facilitate coaches and/or supervisors for school extra-curricular programs. It is recognized that both faculty(teachers) and non-faculty (support staff) coaches who are employees of the Division may earn Earned Days Off (EDOs) as per employees' agreements.

Procedures

For those school programs that are involved in approved extra-curricular travel including HCAA/SHSAA competition, the following guidelines will be followed:

1.  For football and track and field, HZSD will provide appropriate release time and coverage/reimbursement of approved expenses for up to three coaches/supervisors per team.

2.  For all other approved individual and team sports, HZSD will provide appropriate release time and coverage/reimbursement of approved expenses for up to one approved coach/supervisor per team.  

3.  Any exceptions to the above must have prior approval from the area Superintendent.
