AP 210 - Development and Renewal of Locally Developed and Modified Courses

Background

The Ministry of Education provides for the development of locally developed and modified courses within the provincial Core Curriculum.

Procedures

1.  The principal shall refer to the Ministry’s Policy and Procedures for Locally Developed Courses of Study and Policy and Procedures for Locally Modified Courses of Study.
 
2.  Before proceeding, the principal will:

  • Review the approved locally developed and modified courses in Horizon School Division
  • Contact the Ministry to see if there is another school division that has a similar locally developed or modified course that you could access and have approved for use in Horizon
  • Consider all Practical and Applied Arts credit modules and Special Project Credits
  • Consider that these courses are considered as unspecified electives unless it is a modification of a provincial course (e.g. Math 11, ELA 21)

3.  The principal will then contact the Superintendent of Learning to review the items above.

4.  The principal or designate will complete Form D or M - Intent to Proceed Form and submit it to the Superintendent of Learning.

5.  The timeline for submitting AF-210 Intent to Proceed - Form D

  • May 1st for Semester 1 courses
  • December 31st for Semester 2 courses

6. The timeline for submitting http://www.education.gov.sk.ca/LMC AF-210 Intent to Proceed - Form M

  • May 1st for Semester 1 courses
  • December 31st for Semester 2 courses
