STF Job Action Updates

Dear Horizon students, staff, families, and community members,
You have reached Horizon's dedicated page for the latest updates on the ongoing job action by the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF).
 
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we are committed to maintaining open lines of communication regarding changes to schedules and impacts on school operations. We will communicate updates through email, text, here on our website at horizonsd.ca/STFJobAction/, and on our social media channels.

Background: The STF and the Government of Saskatchewan, through the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee, have been working to negotiate a new collective agreement. Horizon School Division’s Board of Education and Director's office respect STF members' rights to engage in the processes that are involved in reaching a collective agreement and remain hopeful that a fair agreement will be reached.

Beginning: April 15 Until further notice, there are no job actions in effect. Classes and transportationPossible STF Job Action:
Full-Day Strikes
  • Regular classes, transportation, extracurricular activities cancelled.
  • Please do not send your children to school on these days.
  • All STF members, including speech-language pathologists, psychologists, learning coaches, coordinators, teachers, vice principals, and principals, will withdraw professional and voluntary services for the entire day.

Withdrawal of Noon-Period Supervision
  • Students are encouraged to return home for their noon period.
  • Schools will follow regular schedules.
  • Principals will plan for the safety of those students who must remain at school over the noon period.
  • Anyone supervising our students will have an up-to-date Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check (CRC/VSC) on file and will be vetted by the Director's office.

Suspension of Extracurricular Activities
  • All Horizon sanctioned extracurricular activities put on by STF members shall be cancelled on the announced dates.
