The Junior Golf Team this year consisted of Korsen Maksymovitch (Grade 9), Dawson Woroniuk (Grade 9), Emerson Chorney (Grade 8) and Evan Fisher (Grade 7). The boys attended the Pre-District Tournament hosted by LeRoy. With only the top 12 golfers advancing to the District Championship, both Korsen and Evan made the cut. Emerson finished just shy of the top 12, in 13th position – next year!

The District Championship was also hosted by LeRoy the following week. Only Korsen was able to attend as Evan was not able to play due to injury. On a cool and breezy day, Korsen was off his game and finished well back of the leaders. A good learning opportunity, but most importantly, we all had fun and are looking forward to next fall.

This fall the Senior Golf District Championship was hosted by LeRoy. Representing WCHS were: Rylan Sokul; Carson Froehlich; Kyle Tarry; and Carson Fisher. Our girls team was represented by Jessie Froehlich. We had a very successful day with Rylan finishing with a Silver Medal and the other three boys all finishing in the top of the field. As a team, the boys finished in first place ahead of the host team LeRoy. The boys were off to Provincials once again. Jessie Froehlich finished in third place narrowly missing a Silver Medal of her own. This also qualified her to attend Provincials.

Provincials were held on the weekend of September 22nd and 23rd in Estevan at the Woodlawn Golf Club. A beautiful golf course for the students to play, however, the weather was terrible. We were greeted by rain and wind with temperatures in the 3 to 6 degree range. Friday's round was also interrupted by a one hour delay due to lightening. Our students played well under these conditions with Rylan nearly breaking into the top ten. As a team we found ourselves in sixth place. By the end of the weekend the team had slipped back finishing in 7th place. All of the students played well and had a successful weekend. Well done! Let's see if we can get back to Provincials next year in North Battleford!
