Horizon Christmas Hamper Project

December 13, 2018

This year's Horizon Christmas Hampers are ready to be delivered!

We are sharing gifts with 316 children and 122 families in need from communities across Horizon School Division this holiday season.

Board members and central office staff spent the morning of December 14 wrapping, organizing, and packing gifts – books, toys, clothing, grocery gift cards, etc. – to be delivered to a number of Horizon communities over the coming days.

This is the fifth year of the Horizon Christmas Hamper Project. In 2014, Horizon’s central office staff chose to forego their regular holiday gift exchange and instead use that money to give back to Horizon’s communities. Each year since, schools identify families who may be in need over the holidays. Horizon’s Board of Education contributes $5,000 to this project, and the remaining funds are raised by donation from local businesses and individual staff members from across the division. This year was the largest number of gifts prepared since the project began.
