Each year, School Community Council
(SCC) members from across
Horizon School Division are invited for an evening of presentations and
discussions on the importance
of their work as SCCs, along with Horizon School Division Board of
Education Trustees and personnel from Horizon’s central office.
workshops were held on the evenings of March 6 & 7, at Quill Lake School and Watrous Elementary School. Each workshop enjoyed a
good turnout, with approximately 60 people in attendance between the two evenings.
from the surrounding areas took in presentations from members of Horizon’s
senior leadership, including Director of Education, Kevin C. Garinger,
Superintendent of Learning Services, Crandall Hrynkiw, Superintendent of
Student Services, Darrell Paproski and Supervisor of Literacy & Early Learning,
Katherine Oviatt, Superintendent of Operational Services/COO, Justin Arendt and
Superintendent of Finance Services/CFO, Marilyn Flaman. SCC members also shared
ideas and discussed their work with schools during like-group sessions to close
workshops were coordinated by Horizon’s Deputy Director of Education, Randy
MacLEAN, and Administrative Assistant, Nicole Fitzpatrick.
