Students will be charged tuition for school attendance in the Division under certain circumstances. Furthermore, the Division shall be responsible for paying tuition to other school jurisdictions under certain circumstances.
1. Charge of Tuition
1.1 Tuition, equal to the amount as determined by The Education Regulations, 1986, Section 20, shall be charged on a prorated basis for a student who chooses to attend a school without assuming residency in the Horizon School Division.
1.2 Tuition, equal to the existing tuition agreement, shall be charged for students attending from the various partnerships.
1.3 Foreign students, who are attending on non-reciprocal exchanges, shall be charged tuition equal to the amount as determined by The Education Regulations, 1986, Section 20. 2. Payment of Tuition
2.1 In situations where the Division has determined that they are unable to meet the needs of students within the boundaries of the Division, the Division may pay tuition costs or a portion of tuition costs for a program delivery outside its boundaries.
2.2 Students within the Division may attend any school within the Division, without paying tuition, unless they fall under a condition identified in Section 1 above. 3. Travel
3.1 The Division shall not be responsible for payment of travel costs in those situations where it also pays tuition, unless there is a mutual agreement to the contrary.
3.2 Students attending Division schools, who live outside the Division boundaries, shall be responsible for transportation costs to the nearest Horizon School Division bus pick-up point unless there is a mutual agreement to the contrary.
3.3 Students/parents who live outside of the Division boundaries and who choose to drive to a Division school, shall be responsible for their own travel costs.
