Vimy Ridge Commemoration at Bulyea Elementary School
April 10, 2017
For students and families of Bulyea School, ceremonies to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge were held at the Bulyea Cenotaph, which has on it the names of two men who died at Vimy. A remembrance ceremony with the Silton Legion #33 and the public was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 7.
On Tuesday, April 4 Horizon's Curriculum Coach, Larry Mikulcik, worked with Grade 4-6 classes, giving a presentation on Vimy Ridge and Canada's involvement in the First World War. Mr. Mikulcik then I shared a number of his First World War artifacts with the whole school, giving students an opportunity to examine the items as a part of a museum/artifact activity. Both events were organized by Cyndee Lovequist, teacher at Bulyea School and secretary/treasurer of the Silton Legion.
